Benalmádena Pueblo is just as enchanted and beautiful as the white neighbour village Mijas Pueblo. Those white traditional Spanish villages are very typical in Andalusian. Both villages are originated from the Moorish settlement in the 8th century and the influences are still visible. The origin of the name Benalmádena derives from the Arabic ” Bani al-Medina” or “Son of the mines”, because of the presence of the mines in this area. The exquisite Benalmádena Pueblo is unique situated on the foothills, right above the Mediterranean Sea and it has breathtaken views of the sea and Costa del Sol.

Benalmádena
Benalmádena consist of 3 different population centers; Benalmádena Pueblo, Benalmádena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel. Benalmádena has around 30.000 inhabitants, but during the high season, it can house easily the double amount of people. Therefore Benalmádena is in every way a very actractive holiday destination.
Benalmádena costa
Benalmádena Costa has a coastline around 9 kilometers. Along these sandy beaches you find al lot of local bars, chiringuitos (cafes) and restaurants where they serve mostly typical dishes from Malaga (a lot of fish). Benalmádena Costa is the cosmopolitan part of Benalmádena and offers you many hotels and resorts along the coastline. Every week in hotel-casino Torrequebrada Flamenco and international shows are held in Sala Fortuna.
Puerto Marina
The largest tourist attraction is Puerto Marina. In this marina you will find so many types of bars, clubs, restaurants that there is always something to suit all tastes. From the latest club sounds with top D.J. to swish sophistication and and the live jazz, or salsa dancing till dawn. This Marina, built in a Moorish style was rewarden in 1999 as the most beautiful marina of Europe. Close to the marina you will also find Sea Life, a aquarium with over 2000 different fish species. Puerto Marina an ideal place for making boat trips or to rent a yacht. Close to the sea and further way from the rush, you will find the castle Bil y Bil, a remaining from the historical Moorish history. Concerts and expositions are held there.
Arroyo de la miel
Arroyo de la Miel is where the nightlife comes to life and where every Friday the street market is been held. In the center of Arroyo de la Miel you can find Casa de la Cultura, where modern art, culture and technology plays an important role Paloma Park, rich of breathtaking nature, flora and fauna. Here you can also find a theatre, aquarium for dolphins with parrots. Also very near situated is Tivoli Park, with over 300 attractions. Tivoli Park offers you several fair attractions, theaters, fountains and restaurants. The park is mainly focused on families with children. You will also find here cable cars (Telecabina) to the highest peak of the region Malaga, Monte Calamorro. From this peak you have an absolutely magnificent view over the Meditarranean Sea, Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmádena Cost, the Guadalhorce Valley and Sierra Nevada mountains. On a clear day you can even see Gibraltar, the Atlas Mountains and the North African coast. There are many things you can do at Monte Calamorro, you can go horse riding or hiking in this exquisite and botanical area, rich of all sorts of flowers and plants. During your trip you will get also company from eagles, hawks, nitwits, cats and mountain goats.
